Can I beat a Mustang?

I'm sure many people have asked about racing mustangs but here we go. My buddy has an 01 GT with intake, exhaust, and a hyperpac. I have an 04 SC shortbed 4x4. When we race I will have 4 inch str. pipe and an sct xcal2 with an undecided custom race tune. Do I have a shot at beatin him? I saw a Truck Universe episode where an 04 crew cab beat an 03 GT with only an xcal2 with sct factory tunes. Thanks for the advice....

you should with a boosted 4x4 launch. as long as thats all he has. if he has a good set of gears and can drive then he might beat you.

You should not have too much trouble beating a pony. Just get ya a good 4 wheel launch, and giver hell.

what are you racing up too lol... youll beat him till you hit around 70 then the weight of our trucks slows us down.... do a 4x4 launch and you should get him

It will be close but dont let him talk you out of a boosted 4x4 launch.

Like Stroker says, just build your boost up to around 12 to 14 lbs or what ever you can build before the tires smoke. Should be a peace of cake.

Hey may not even know what that is...but I am sure he will learn plenty fast. Oh, and besure you are on the left side so the exhaust is in his window.

I already told him I get the left lane. I told him it was my lucky lane back when I used to race jr. drags. He will figure out why I wanted that lane as soon as we launch. Also I forgot to mention his car has an auto tranny

With the many frends i have that own a mustang gt, The stock to lightly modded (intake, Exhaust, Tunner the best times i have seen are in the ballpark of 9.00 to 9.50 1.8th mile times. With a good tune from one of a great vendors, and intake, exhausts and some other light mods, you can get them. Ive seen some of our members here that run 8.70 to 9.10's with just an sct and exhaust.

Edit: It being auto you better get a good launch out of it, or you will have hell beating him. If it was a standered you would have a better chace.
