Signs and Symptoms of a Turbo going bad

What are the main signs that your turbo is going bad? Mine sounds weird through my exhaust compared to how it usually sounds. I can't really describe it, but I have no power loss and no oil leaking from my turbo anywhere.

Usually, surging, oil leakage or significant decrease in boost pressure. A change in sound will usually accompany these symptoms. You should take it in and have it checked out.

1 ) Mine will not spool up sometimes untill I get about 20' away from a stop sign, it just boggs down and belches black smoke until it gets moving
2) Under a load it makes a very loud screeching sound ( almost like a belt slipping ) and has NO Power !
I noticed this about 6 mos ago. ( first sign of going out I found )
3) When I shut the truck off it sounds like a beer can rattling around in the exhaust pipe

YES my Turbo has been out for awhile ! LOL

but a new one should be here in a week or so ...

oh yea once I get going down the road it runs fine till I get going up a hill then I notice power rapidly dropping off ....when truck was new '05 It would almost peg the boost gauge at 40 # when I laid into it now the most it will do is about 25# , I figure at 25# it should still run and pull ok ...but no dice , it falls on its face , I don't know exactly how much boost it is really making ?? how accurate are the gauges factory ??
