what to look for???

hi im fairly new to the diesel scene and would like to get some help on what i should look for in my new truck.... i had an older 7.3L diesel ford that wasnt a powerstroke but now im pretty sure i am going to pick up an 04 f-250 with the 6.0 L and a six speed manual... ive heard nothing but goog things about the 7.3 but a few horror stories about the newer ones... i was just wondering what some problems were or what to look out for.... the truck has 45000 miles on it and its a good price but i dont want to dump a ton of money into it to keep it going... any advice would be appriciated... thanks Allan , 16, WA

The early 6.0's had some problems (03 & 04). With 45,000 miles on it, it may be OK. Being a premium member on this site would enable you to get OASIS reports run on the Ford's. The OASIS is a report of anything that was worked on and recorded under warranty. This is an excellent tool for shopping. In fact, that is how I made the decision to get my '05 - a clean OASIS report. Think about it - it could be peace of mind instead of taking a chance.
