First things First
I just bought a 2005 f250 6.0 crewcab with 124,000 miles. I realize that these engines have there issues but I would like to do what I can to prevent them from happening to me. This is my first diesel and I want it to be a good experience. This forum has been great for getting information but at the same time its a little over whelming. So my question is what do I need to do first to make sure that my truck will operate without problems.

Head studs & EGR Delete will make these things bullet proof

I've read alot about the EGR deletes and the ARP studs what about head gaskets, coolant bypass filtration, oil bypass filters, oil coolers the list just seems to go on and on. After buying the truck I don't have alot of extra cash so the things I do I want to be of the most benefit.

Sesco, the most important thing you can do is get yourself a good monitoring solution like the Edge Insight. With these trucks they are not optional and should be the first thing you do. The links in my signature would be a good place to start.
