Tuners vs. Blown headgaskets
I saw the thread about the added HP from tuners vs blown headgaskets, but my question is which brand tuners seem to have higher incidents with blown head gaskets. Seems the SCT is really well liked.
I have a bully-dog triple dog, set mostly on performance in my 05 6.0, and I don't drive it balls to the wall. In fact, I haven't had the peddle to the floor....ever!! I am enjoying the extra MPG's. Has anyone else ever wondered about this? Thanks...Kevin |

We have taken polls on this in the past and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. Many people have popped them without a tuner so it's tough to say that the tuner is the cause.
The easiest answer is "the ones that are abused". I have heard too many people admit that they were running an extreme tune and towing in excess of 10,000 lbs. Then the wonder why the truck broke. Everything has it's limits and the harder you push them, the closer you are to disaster. |
