So after some lurking, I have read that one of the best things we 6.0 PSD owners can do is unhook the EGR to keep the soot out of the turbo, and the motor oil if I am understanding this correctly.
Has anyone else with the 05's done anything like disconnecting the EGR or removing it altogether and put a plate over the hole? Seems like I would get a check engine light on...
What do you guys think?
as told by mr. marc, lol, disabling the egr only helps prevent a possible egr cooler failure which can result in needing a brand new motor. eye witness right here. You can unplug your egr but that will cause a fault in the pcm and your truck won't run RIGHT. you can also use an xcal2 to disable the egr and your truck WILL run RIGHT. ORRRR, you can get that up pipe thingy from elite diesel and block off the egr completely. I mean, you got some options. good thing about diesel trucks.
