i wanna get rid of my cat but i keep gettin told that i cant becuse its gonna make the truck not run and all kinds of s--t. cna sumbody let me kno if i can or cant or wuts gonna happen if i do. i got a 04 f350 dually wit the 6.0

Whoever's telling you that doesn't have a clue. Take it out and don't look back. It won't hurt a thing and will actually allow your exhaust temps to run cooler.

yea thats what i thought but i figured i would ask some people that know 1st...i also heard that it makes the turbo build boost at a idle but i dnt know how true that is ether...

Nope, not true.


It will be louder, it will lower EGT's and it MAY help the turbo spool a bit faster, that's it

Second that, I have an Edge Insight CTS, and can verify for certain, that mine reads 0 Boost at idle without the cat, Secondly I would agree with 07 Outlaw again that it does make it louder, to me it almost seems like a low drone, not too bad though. A local muffler guy verified the NO CAT concept for me. He said that exhaust backpressure on turbo-diesels can shorten the life of your turbo, causes it to take longer to spool, and causes higher EGT's. He took it out for me while I watched and cut me a piece of pipe to go in its place. Cost me $35.00, and was a great deal for me, as some of the pipes on ebay and such cost that much. He suggested that if I didnt like the extra noise he has had success throwing a small un-restricting muffler in where the cat was and it will quiet it down. He would have done that for $70.00. Who knows, maybe when the government isn't taking every extra dime, I'll have that put in. For now I kind of like the jet sound at the end of the pipe!

I took both the CAT and Muffler off my '05 .. I did not really like the way it sounded ( Kinda Like a small Jet engine -alot of high pitched whistle ) so I went back to the muffler shop and had them install a straight thru 4" muffler about 3' long
you ain't gonna hurt a thing !
