Opinions Please!
I finally got rid of my Cummins and am going back to a Ford. I was set on a 7.3 until a few hours ago. Need some opinions from people who know more than I do about these trucks. Here are the options:
1) 2000 F250 7.3L 130k miles, edge chip, straight pipe exhaust, 6 inch lift, 37" tires, motot metal rims, 2007 headlight conversion (about $11,500) 2) 2006 F350 6.0L 150k miles, Banks turbo back exhaust, 8 inch lift, Rockstar rims, New 38" tires (about $14,000) Both are Lariat Crew Cab Short Bed, 4x4, and automatic. I have heard a lot about 6.0s being unreliable, have owned an 04 and had some trans issues, but also heard the 2006-2007 were good years for them. From a bit of research I would at the very least install the EGR block off kit and most likely some head studs too. Like I said, would like some opinions from some people that know a bit more than me especially about the 6.0 as I am looking to buy a truck this week. Thanks in advance! |

You will have lots of info for you to get the 6.0 so I will point out some 7.3 info.
If you get an oil bypass filter you will be able to go longer on oil changes. The 7.3 you are looking at has lower miles. And less emissions control from day 1 so "should" last longer. (depends on the care of the truck) Both great engines but less $$$ has to be put in to make the 7.3 reliable. I am just pointing out some info that you may not hear. I really love my truck and would never trade it for a 7.3 because of the type of truck that my 6.0 is right now. I lucked out with my dealer and I did not have any major issues. |
