First Diesel, few simple questions.
Just a couple quick questions for you guys.
Just picked up an 03 Excursion with a 6.0. I plan on doing some small mods in the future as this is the family DD, however first I want to make sure I'm not in need of any noted repairs, etc. I heard a few years back that the 6.0s had problems, but this thing seems to run great. She has 132,000 miles, and is bone stock. Anything I should look for/at? This was bought from a certified Ford dealer, and it went through their service department before I bought it, but I know how that can go at times (they don't always fix/replace everything they find). I was reading and searching on here, and have seen notes about head studs, and EGR delete. Are these items i should look into? Thanks for any help, and I will try my best to use the search before asking noob type questions -Will |

Ok, got another question (and I'm NOT a ricer).
On my last turbo vehicle, I had a Forge diverter (aka blow-off valve), which was recirculated as the car used a metered system, and I'm not a ricer that want's a super cool turbo fart noise. However, I do know that compressor surge can shorten the life span of your turbo. I haven't spent much time under the hood of my 6.0 yet (and I don't really plan to hopefully, other than some light mods), however it appears that there is no valve. Do you guys add these to combat surge at all, or is this not an issue with these beasts? |
