What is the best coolent to use? I put the ford stuff back in after the EGR and stud job. Keep it or ditch it? I just put a filter on the degas bottle.

Ditch it and change to a CAT EC-1 rated ELC.

Any tips on flushing the system on these trucks?

Drain coolant by removing lower radiator hose. Drain block from plug on drivers side of the block. Remove the thermostat. Replace plug in block and put lower hose back on. Put thermostat housing back on without thermostat. Fill with water. run for 5 minutes then drain as above. Put 2 qts of VC-9 and fill with water. drive it for about 45 minutes. Drain and flush after. Put in 1 gallon of Restore an top with water. Drive it for an hour then drain. Flush 2 times with water. Flush 3 times with distilled water. Replace thermostat or put in a new one. Add 3.5 gallons of ELC concentrate and top off with distilled water. Make sure to run engine for 5 minutes between flushes. Have heater on set to hi while doing this to flush the heater core too.

i have been searching for where to buy elc coolant. any help?

My engine is apart right now and plan on using regular 50/50 coolant with an additive. Is regular coolant with an additive good enough for the 6.0. Is it worth putting the EC 1 coolant in there instead?

can i just get a shop to do a radiator flush and provide them with the cat coolant

thats all i did, it took somewhere between 5-8 flushes before it came out clear water. i switched to flushing with distilled about halfway through the procedure so that on the last dump i just had to refill with concentrate.
