Can I just take the muffler off?

Can I take the muffler off right behind the cat? I don't have to cut it so I was just going to see what it sounded like. Anyone know an easy way to get the rubber hangers off? TIA

sounds a little wacky i tried it the other day. i used a 30 inch pry bar and just popped the steel part of the hanger out of the rubber part of the hanger and left the rubbers on there, there is two hangers that you can unbolt from the frame too i belive its a 13mm nut but i been wrong before then the clamp at the muffler is going to be tight so use an air impact if you have one if not make sure you have a cheater bar handy

what i did on my f250 gasser was that i unclamped it after the cat and just pushed it out of the way to see of i liked the sound, i left it hanging there so when emissions came or i didnt want to hear it anymore i could just slide it back and bolt it up

it was more than slight it was my gasser (5.4l triton) with just a cat on it, i woke up neighbors and people almost broke their neck to turn around to see what was so loud. but on my new 04 powerstroke 6.0 first thing i did when i bought the truck was break out the sawzall and cut the whole exhaust off before the cat (10 mins after i signed all the paperwork) and havent thought about putting a muffler on it. my truck only gets loud when the turbo vains open up around 2500 rpm's but has a nice tone all thru the rpm range (my truck atleast) and it sounds good and i see people all the time turning around to see what sounds so good, but thats just me i like my trucks loud trucks if i could, i would have ran my 5.4l f250 with open headers haha

I'm running open downpipe have been for about 2500 miles. It sounds crappy when its just all boost buy when it opens up it sounds sweet.
