Well I had just finshed a 10 day moose hunt in northern ON(no moose) and was heading home. The truck started just fine. I was 2 miles out of Nakina ON(you should look that up) and my truck died going down the road. It just died, no codes, no noise, just died. I towed it to a shop where the Ford mechanic was out moose hunting(go figure). The GM guy was doing the best he could, but I was basically using his scanner, tools, and internet to try and figure it out. I finally gave up and had it towed 3 hours to the nearest ford dealership. They figured it out in about 2 hours, but of course they didn't have one in stock. So another night in the hotel to wait for the truck in the morning.
$180 first tow bill and shop fee
$500 second tow bill
$1024 bill at dealership
$140 2 nights at a hotel
I only had 115,000 on this truck when it failed. Everyone might want to consider changing it since it is so easy to get to (right on the back of the HPOP) the part is only about 250bucks and it would have saved me a ton of headaches. I just did the heads 4000 miles ago and remembered looking at it and thinking I'll be alright.
