Should I buy or not?
My uncle is a small Ford dealer and has been looking for a f250/350 diesel truck for me for about a month now. He has a guy that might be trading in his 2004 white f250 6.0 crew cab lariat that has 154k miles on it for an f150 my uncle has sitting on the lot. I was really wanting to get get an 05-07 for the looks and because i have heard the early 6.0 have had problems that have been taken care of in the later years. I am willing to spend up to 26k for a nice 05-07 CCSB but my uncle is somewhat pushing me to get this 2004. He says i should be able to get it for under 20k. The owner of the truck bought it new from my uncle back in 03. He has my uncles shop service it and he has religiously changed the oil every 3000 miles according to the records my uncle has. He travels a lot and puts mostly highway miles on this truck. I dont think he has towed a whole lot besides his boat that he goes fishing with and it cant weigh too much since he is going to get an f150 and still keep the boat. So my question is if i should buy this truck or not. I am planning on modding whatever truck i get(tune, exhaust, lift, tires, studs, etc). I was wondering if a semi high mileage 04 is a good truck to mod or not. I dont want to buy this truck then blow my head gaskets right away or have the turbo go out. I am going this weekend to look at it so i was wondering if their was anything i should look for in paticular. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

First thing that pops into my mind: why is this guy trading in on a smaller truck? Especially if the 6.0 has been "good" to him for 154k miles. Sounds like he has at least a little money if hes traveling with a full size truck and boat... Look everything over really well.

you better be able to get that thing for under 20k with 150k + on it. I paid 16250 for my 05 with 149k on it. I say shop around and get what you really want. Granted i'd be one to buy a 6.0 with high mileage (duh i did) because you know its been on the road and not in the shop. I say search around for an 05+ with similar mileage they're not too hard to find.
