are all 6.0s bad?
Bought an 04 250 few months ago, cracked a valve on #3 cylinder. while at the dealer the salesman said i need to get rid of the truck. my question is do all of the 6.0s fail, or are their some that never give trouble. should i gamble or get another truck? i think the engine is an 03, it has 107k miles.

Do all 6.0's fail. Do cummins or duramax's fail? The answer is yes, everything fails eventlually. 6.0's are a good motor and if the correct preventative maintenance is done they'll treat/last a long time. My suggestions fix it and move on...

i did get the exteded warrenty, the truck was fixed and is running fine now. he just told me that these engines were notorious for causeing severe problems after 100,000 miles, curious to what you guys think.

ya. now, i only have 61,000 miles on my 05 6.0 and our 04 f450 dumptruck with the 6.0 has about 17k(stays really close and hauls prolly twice a week) we do maintenance work religously on all of our trucks. have not had a problem at all. we had another 05 6.0 that dropped a tranny 3 months after we bought it, and got a new one and one of the employees bought it and now has problem free 170,000 miles on it. I love the 6.0. you could have just a bad egg and terrible luck. but most if not all 6.0 owners on here that do maintenance LOVE there trucks
