Fuel additives

What kind of fuel additives is everyone using? I know all the Ford part numbers in my service manual, but I am sure there are some aftermarket ones that are just as good or better. I live in WI and want to prepare for next winter or while traveling this summer if I get some bad fuel.
Thanks,

Thanks,
there are only two fuel additives i would ever reccomend to someone. Cetane booster is great......some people dont notice much gain, others do. the ones that dont notice a gain are probably just getting better quality fuel to start with. it will help with power, throttle responce, and fuel economy if your fuel isnt maximizing your engines perfromance....and it seems that about 70% or so, just guessing based on feedback, of fuel isnt up to full par.....especially with the 6.0. the 6.0 is a whole other beast. they are so much more pickier about fuel quality and i would guess based on feedback that about 90% of 6.0 customers notice a difference in power and or fuel economy with a cetane booster.

the only other fuel additive i would ever reccomend...especially to a 6.0 owner, is anti-gel if you think you may enter cold weather with fuel that isnt pre blended. it is only an issue if you travel from a warm climate to a cold one on the same fuel......or if you have a cold snap before the fuel is blended at the station...........Marc

What brand of cetene booster would you recomend? Will that also help keep the injection system clean? I am new to all this so I am wondering what you have seen in the shop.
Thanks

Power Service. You can get it at Wal-Mart, TSC, and most truck stops. Higher at truck stops. Grey bottle in summer ups cetane, white bottle in winter, stops gelling. Grey bottle increased my mpg 1-1.5 per gallon. Didn't get a good check on white bottle in winter driving.

i generally reccomend the ford cetane booster....but thats just becuase thats what we carry at work and its conveniant for the customer. i dont think the brand is all that important as long as it has the same cetane boost level........Marc

Any feedback about this?

I guy I work with has a 2002 Chevy Duramax and he is running FPPF Total Power. This has Cetane boost and reduces gelling in the winter. He runs it all year round 4oz per tank in summer and 8oz per tank in winter. 82,000 miles on his truck and no issues to date. He isn't a dealer or anything but this is what he trusts.
I was wondering if anyone tried it in a newer 6.0 PSD and got any results.
Thanks,
