Hey guys, love my truck, need some advice! :)
I'm new to the Powerstroke forum and I can't wait to get advice from all you savvy F250 owners.
Short background - Got my truck in Sept. 2006, it's a 2007 6.0 F250, Lariat, 4x4, loaded. I have a Bully Dog programmer set on "Performance" It has 114k miles on it, all highway weekday, dirt roads/mud weekends In super condition. (Yes, I'm a girl who cleans her truck for fun and won't let anyone eat in it.) I've hardly towed at all and nothing that y'all would consider heavy. Oil and filter changes and all maintenance always done on time. ZERO issues with this truck. I was at the dealership yesterday. Loved the 2011s and the salesman said he'd give me $30k for my truck, and let me drive out with the 2011 for another $18k. (My family is on the X Plan). Here's the question - my truck is running great and it's 100% paid for, but am I passing up a great deal here? I haven't done enough research on the 2011s, but I hear they're good trucks. Could my truck run great for another 150k miles or are the repairs about to stack up? Any advice appreciated! ![]() Steelgirl_1187 |

i'd say do an EGR Delete and Coolant filter and yes your truck will last 150k more miles
But the 2011s

I'm at a point in life where I'm sick of payments. If I were you, keep your truck, debt sucks. You may have some repairs come up, but without a $400 a month payment, you should have that money in the bank

Exactly the point I was going to make. Not having a vehicle payment is more appealing to me right now that having a 2011.
Though I have to admit, I'd be tempted to bite on that offer. $30k for a 07 6.0 is dayum good. |

From my experience w/ the 6.0's, they are hit or miss when it comes to repairs but if its been trouble free for 114k..... You should be good to go!
![]() But on the other hand, from what I've heard is that these 2011's are freaking amazing and will beat the crud outta the 6.0's. Also, if I had the chance to upgrade to a 2011 for only 300-400 per month, I'd jump at that chance! It's more of do you want the better fuel economy/newest & baddest truck or would you prefer no payments........ |

Yes exactly! Nice new truck, or no payments. I'm so torn.
![]() How about likelihood of repairs on the 2007? Any typical big ones coming up? I'll do your suggestions too, Mudstrokin'. The salesman said "$28k" then he said "Okay I went out and looked at your truck and I'll give you $30k." And PGreenSVT - - the 2011 was a beautiful King Ranch. Sticker said $62k. Yikes! |

Oh he11 yeah. I'm afraid I'd have to cave in on that deal. If it had the black KR interior it wouldn't even be a question, I'd have just handed him my keys.
However with your truck I would do and egr delete and flush the cooling system and change over to ELC coolant from Cat, Rotella, Zerex, or Fleetrite and you should be pretty good to go. No way I could pass up an '11 KR for $18k though. Last edited by PGreenSVT; 10-06-2010 at 11:12 AM. |
