Do people really go through the trouble of swapping in an 03' turbo just for the sound or is there some sort of performance gain to be had?

I love my 03 turbo...definitely the best part of my truck so far.

Does anyone know if a turbo is louder with a stack or a full length straight pipe exhaust?
I figured it would be a single stack but someone else said full exhaust.
