Before I goto the Dealership
UPDATE PAGE 4
Well after my truck has thrown multiple check engine lights I'm finally breaking down and taking it to the dealership. Its an 06 with 75k miles so the major stuff should be under warranty. My question is what stuff should I take off before I go in...I don't want to void my warranty. Obviously I'm not removing major stuff like the lift or exhaust, but should I take out my edge programmer or AFE Intake?? Will they be able to tell if the edge was there if I remove it?? How picky are most dealerships with this kind of stuff?? Better yet anyone from west or central PA that know a mod friendly dealer?? Codes are: p0402 (EGR flow excessive detected) P1378 (FICM Supply voltage Circuit low) V0155 (Lost communication with instrument) Last edited by 06reddragon; 10-12-2010 at 01:07 PM. Reason: update |

You might want to put your cat back in, if you have not already. Remove the Edge. The AFE, I would leave, but that's just me

Do all programmers leave a footprint?
I bought my truck from CarMax last year and then bought a Ford ESP warranty. If I take the truck in for the 30000 service and ask them to update with whatever the new flashes would they be able to tell? |

. IMO, they would have to be looking for one, and for routine maint, they aren't going to care

Is there such a thing as a "mod friendly" dealer? If so, That would be a new one to me. Those of us who add performance mods to their trucks are essentially taking the chance of a denied warranty claim at the dealer.

Is the edge a CTS? If so return it to stock. Tell em its an insight. They wont void you for gauges.
But as far as diagnosis. Replace your batteries. Check your FICM voltage and delete or replace your egr and oil cooler |

Being an 06 you may or may not be under warranty anymore. It all depends on the trucks in service date

I believe its in service date is Oct or Nov of 2006 so I may be running out soon if it expires in 4 years. If its 5years/100,000 miles I have lots of time. Either way I scheduled an appointment for this monday so I'll let you all know how it goes.
I think I may have actually found a dealer that is more "lienient" than others. I was going to take it to the local dealer, but the first thing they said was "It will be under warranty as long as theres no programmer or aftermarket stuff". So I knew right then I wasn't taking it there. Then I was talking to a friend of a friend and he had a programmer on his truck, ran vegi oil(not the right way), and beat the crap out of his truck. They replaced his injectors multiple times even when it had 97k miles on it and he was running vegi oil mixed with kerosene. I figure they'll be my best shot at not voiding my warranty. Its a 2hr drive, but worth it if they fix everything for free. Also I had an Edge Juice Platinum with A2 monitor. I've always heard that the edge actually changes the code after it comes out of the computer so theres no footprint left, because it doesn't actually reprogram the stock computer, but changes the signal before it reaches the engine. I guess I'll find out haha. |

Yeah there are mod friendly dealers out there. You just have to do your homework and it may involve driving a ways to have your work done. That said I'd still ditch the programmer and put it back to stock programming before it goes in.
