Thanks for the advice, LOL

I need the towing, but just dont have the cash to buy something with low miles. I have had an Oasis run on it and it had now issues, clean carfax, one owner. The deal that a freind of mine is giving me on this truck is ALMOST to good to pass up.

It's probably fine. I think I would have some extra cash in the bank in the event that it takes a dumper. Is this your DD?

If the Oasis, and Carfax are clean and you know the person that had it I don't see why it would be a bad deal. Hell if you know how he took care of it or any of his vehicles that would be the deciding factor. Nothing wrong with high milage trucks even with the 6.0. Take care of it and use it.

Seriously

When you get to that kind of mileage you have to think of other things beside just the engine.

Transmission, Ball Joints, bearings etc etc

But your entering the area of mileage where you better have $3-5k always accessable if it is your DD plus the ability to get around without the truck for days at a time

Dont let miles scare you. I had a dodge with 252k miles and all i had to do was new alternator. I just bought a 6.0 with 200k clean carfax and clean oasis report. I was told if it has higher miles most likely the issues have been fixed by now or its one that dont have the issues. Most problems seem to be when the truck has lower miles.

It will be my DD, it was owned by a local tractor company and dealer maintained. I can pick it up for $10k, I will have ball joints, frank, and other usual suspects checked before I buy. What about other steering components, Pittman arm, idler arm and such. Another options us '03 6.0 with about 130k miles but from what I have read, the later 6.0 had less problems, is that the case?
