PROS AND CONS

Greetings all, I've got a 95 F250 with the 7.3, love the motor, runs strong. The problem is she's falling apart. I want to upgrade to a newer model, 03-07, but have heard alot of nightmare stories with the 6.0, but see a ton on the road. Any help in the pros and cons would be great.
thanks,
Dennis

For me the pro & con is i have both I have over 5k invested in my 97 in mod just to pull my 5er but i am still over my gross. With my 06 i still have some room if i want to upgrade my 5er, now to pulling power my 06 will out pull my 97 2 to 1 but unloaded i think my 97 will beat my 06. When it comes to mpg pulling 06 gets 8 1/2 to 9 1/2, 97 get about the same unloaded freeway 06 18-19 373 gears and 97 15-16 410 gears.
Maintenance--- I got my 97 new so i have done all the service on it and they are almost bullet proof where my 06 i am always checking under the hood just because i know the history of the 6.0 so if you get one try for a 06-07 low miles install a coolent filter to remove the casting sand, gauges i like the Edge Insight so you can see the temp difference between EOT-ECT max 15 degs i'm showing EOT-ECT-EGR-Trans Temp, Fuel pressure gauge because anything under 45 lbs WOT kill injectors mine was 44 at WOT installed the new reg kit now 62 idle and 58 WOT and if you want to keep the oil clean add a Amsoil by-pass system and only use Ford filter (oil-fuel-air-trans) + the 6.0 love syn oil. I got my 06 with 17k on it and it was a dealer truck (sales manager) the down side town driving turbo replace before i got it, get an Oasis report before you buy and warranty if you can because one trip to the stealer and you may be out $5k With the 6.0 you need to drive it like you stole it about everyother week to keep the EGR valve clean and the turbo free they will rust, don't idle and add a cetane boost to the fuel i use the Ford stuff.
Hope this helps and good luck hope you find a good one

maitenance is EVERYTHING with the 6.0. if you take care of it, it will take care of you. i suggest an oasis report like said above to see what records it has. just look it up and down closely, and you should be able to tell how well it was taken care of
