Looking for a 6.0

Hey all. I am looking at picking up a F250 with a 6.0. Right now, I'm looking at 2 different ones. One is an 03 6.0 with no reading on the odometer (all 8's). I did some math and figure it has at least 200k. The other I am looking at is an 05 with141,xxx miles on it. The first truck fits my price range better than the second, but the lack of a true mileage scares me a big time.

I need to move my other truck for financial reasons, and am looking at this as an alternative to what I drive now. Is there anything in particular to look for? Any problems to a specific year? How long will these go (I know the maintnace is an issue with that question, but if anyone has a ballpark?)

Thanks,
Chris

from what little i know, if you delete the egr, rebuild the oil cooler, put in a proper fuel pump they should last a while. arps are a good idea if you add any performance mods.

buy the 05. 03 and 04 are hit and miss with 6.0 problems, 05-07 are much better. Stud it, egr delete, oil cooler, and a good tune and its as reliable as a 7.3.

Welcome! I wouldn't buy a truck with unknown mileage! God knows what happened to the truck before the odometer shorted out, so go with the 05. I love my 03, but I know the mileage and have put quite a bit of money into it fixing it to run the way that it does! Good luck!

And to give you a ballpark...I had to replace the turbo, 4 injectors, and did the egr delete all at the same time. I did the injectors myself, but the turbo and egr delete ran me $1,400. The 4 injectors were $600. So it all adds up.
