Whistle/Whine with boost.

Ok, I know its not boost. But I have a annoying loud whinish whistle when i get about about 8 pounds of boost. It first happened oneday I was pulling a load up a hill about 16k and never did it again. But now that i have put my SCT on it started back up even when it is revertted back to stock. Here is what I think it maybe a intercooler pipe coupling leaking? I have ditched all the plastic intercooler pipes and went with the metal ones for a 2003. I first thought it was air whistling into the filter through the ZOODAD whole but i cleaned up the air and took off any little burs and it still does it loud as ever. Any help is greatly appricaitated. Oh it does have head studs

Its the turbo whistle. Normal. Swap in a larger freer flow exhaust and the whistle will get louder

Check the exhaust up pipes and Y pipe. Look for holes or soot at the flanges and the flex bellows. Your gonna need a small mirror to see around the pipes.

Maybe check for shaft play on the turbo?

i got the same sort of thing going on with my truck now just started noticing it tonight. there are definatly 2 different pitched whistles going on when it boosts around 5-10 lbs. there is the normal turbo whine and then there is a much more high pitched whine and it is definatly the turbo when building boost becuase as soon as i get off the throttle to let it roll and slow down on its own to a stoplight the noise is not there. any ideas on what this is. turbo problem? oh and just less than 4 months ago the turbo was rebuilt by ford because i had a problem with my unison ring and a new one was installed.

It could be a cracked expansion joint on the up pipe or Y pipe, that's what I had, it made a little whistle/hiss off and on then one day the whistle got loud to almost a squeel when rpms got around 1500, frigin annoying. You'll prolly smell exhaust in the cab when idling.
When truck is cold, I fired it up went under and could feel the leek in the expansion joint.
I replaced the complete Y pipe, problem solved.
Could be ur issue.....???
Check the blue rubber hose at the turbo intercooler tube for cracks...

ok, its not the turbo whistle. I have a aftermarket exhaust but. I have recently replaced all of the boost hoses, and i rechecked them and its not them. I do have some more exhaust in the cab. To change the y pipe how big of a pain is it? I have also thought about it being the turbo maybe a bearing going out or the vanes not working correctly. The tea kettle whistle i had this winter and that was a blow head gasket. studs and new gaskets fixed that. I hope to get these problemssolved fast. Its getting old working on my 6.0 more than i did on my 7.3 and i had triple the miles
