HELP new guy pick programmer - please!

Hey there y'all!

I just bought my first diesel truck- a '07 F350 King Ranch FX4 SRW- and I'm considering putting a chip or programmer in it. Currently the truck is all stock except for a Ranch Hand front bumper. But I'm TOTALLY new to diesels and I've never had a chip an any of my vehicles. So, I need help picking the right one for me!

My #1 concern is improved fuel economy! I would love for it to have some more 'git up and go' but I figure all of the chips/programers will give me some more of that. I don't do a whole lot of heavy towing and I think tge truck can handle what I DO tow (16' flatbed & 25' stock trailer) the way it is- I live in South Texas and we don't have a lot of hills.

Can someone explain what "custom tunes" are and where you get them?

I'd like a programmer that would allow me to change from fuel economy to performance (for added passing ability) IF that's a possibility. But it's not a requirement.

Can I get some recommendations, both budget-conscious and 'moneys no object,' on what chip/programmer will give mr the BEST fuel economy along with the option to boost HP/torque?

I recently put the SCT X3 on mine. On the hiway, my MPG is now running 18 MPG. I think I'm getting around 15 in town, but it's hard to tell for sure, I cann't keep my foot out of it. I'm running the performance tune, the power is.. well... I love it. At this rate, I'm gonna need new tires pretty soon. Burns them in 3 gears. Factory rep told me it adds 120 horsies.
