Thinking about buying 6.0, need advice
well i found a pretty nice 03 f250 that I am interested in. However, I am scared of the Ford 6.0 due to all their horror stories. I previously had a 5.9 cummins and loved it.
Here all the mods on the F250 i'm looking at 03 Ford F-250 6.0 power stroke 22,000 original miles. 6.0 motor built by diesel nut motor sports . Cowl Hood, amp research steps, bed liner, tow package, Alpine cd, gauge pod with boost, trans, and egt. Fuel psi gauge mounted in the cowl hood. Interior like new, really! New 40" MT ATZ and Rims (7500 miles ago) 4:88 gears, warn hub conversion and 12" custom lift with all fos resi shocks. Tranny is a ATS STAGE 5 Full Billet. Motor has Elite stage I cam. elite valvetrain, elite chromoley push rods, elite coolant by-pass lines and elite tuning. H-11 studs, ported heads, ATS EGR Delete, Hypermax 175cc injectors . ATS Stage 3 fuel sys, Banks Highram and Banks IC. Turbo is a 62/70 non vgt from Industrial with 1500 miles on it. |

What are they asking for it? I am personally not thrilled with the 62-70 and would rather have a VGT like the Garrett GT3788VA. Other than that it sounds like a bada$$ truck.

It would be a trade. I have an 06 Mega Cab Hemi Loaded.... But for reliability, does this truck sound reliable?
He's asking 25000 i think |

As far as I'm concerned that's a no brainer. A Dodge gasser for a Built F250 diesel. I'd already be driving the Ford.

Well my gasser has booked out at $26000 and I enjoy it. Just dont want to buy this 6.0 and have issues left and right

It sounds like the 6.0 issues have been addressed but there is quite a bit of power in that engine so if you beat on then you could have drivetrain issues. Its probably pushing around 500hp so if you rag on it everyday you could get into some problems but if you are halfway modest on the skinny pedal you shouldn't have any problems. That being said I beat on my 6.0 pretty hard and other than blowing the headgaskets (pre studded and deleted) I didn't have any problems at all but I wasn't pushing that kind of horsepower but I also had stock tranny.

that truck sounds so familiar....... was my old truck I sold....... great truck, built right...only thing if I was you I would loose the 62/70 non vgt and go with a stage II vgt...... other than that no worries on anything else... the trany, fuel system and suspension is solid. It actually has 190cc injctors unless he changed them. Beautiful truck........ but I owned a cummins and went to the ford, then sold and now drive a duramax..... for the record I would never own another 6.o, but if I did, I would own that one because the motor was built right..... but it is still a 6.0....good luck and PM you number and I will tell you al about the truck.....
