New member/'06 F250 owner
Hello all,
I recently purchased an '06 F250 CC/SB 4x4 for towing a 7500 lbs 5th wheel. It's got 158K on the odo and approx 3400 hours (may need to double check the hours). After I took possession I had my mechanic change ALL fluids, filters and serp. belt. The only mod it has that I know of is a EGT guage. I'm not looking to turn my truck into a 1/4 mile monster, but I would like to make sure it breathes as well as it can and runs as cool as it can. Unfortunately I live in California so there are limitations. Does anyone know what sort of mods I can make that would be CARB compliant? I did a quick search, but didn't find much. I also quickly checked a list of CARB approved equipment, but I didn't see much for a 6.0, but I may not have understood it well. I'm a total diesel noob. In the brief time I've been lurking about here it sounds like there is a lot of knowledgeable folks here and I look forward to hearing what you have to share. Thanks, Marc |

Welcome to the board but you can get any exhaust system for one thing as long as it retains the CAT

I hope when you had all the fluids changed you flushed the cooling system and got rid of the Ford Gold coolant. If you didn't do it again and replace it with ELC from Cat, Rotella, Fleetrite, Texaco. Ford's Gold coolant is a major factor in clogged oil coolers, blown egr coolers and blown head gaskets.
Then get yourself an SCT X3 and some custom tunes to wake that thing up. You always have the option to load the stock tune back on when you need to emission test it. |
