FICM Question

My buddy(Ford Certified Diesel Tech) came and put his diagnostic equipment on my truck. The FICM showed voltage of 36.2 and a bad icp sensor. I took the ficm off and it shows a date of January 28, 2008. Could an ficm go bad in two and a half years. I took It apart to do the repair procedure but all the solder joints look good. Do i just need to resolder and check voltage again or is there anything else to look for. BTW my buddy is out for a while or I would ask him. Thanks In Advance

Eric

Yes the FICM could go bad in 2.5 years. The heat induction strategy that Ford implemented to try and get around the injector stiction problem eats FICM's. You should resolder all of the stuff in the repair procedure. Not a guarantee that it will fix it but it has fixed a lot of them. Another problem is the components used in the FICM are barely up to the task.
