F.E.T. Charge

This is some B.S. I'm about to purchase some tires and 4 wheel parts adds this charge to your final price. It's not much but still...

Some larger tires require an extra Federal Excise Tax (or F.E.T). Heavier vehicles with larger tires are likely to cause more damage to roads and bridges. The Federal Excise Tax counteracts the cost of the extra wear and tear on the roads caused by these larger tires.

I was pricing Toyo 37x13.50/20s. To see the price you had to add them to your cart. When I went to checkout it showed the total price for the tires, plus the F.E.T. charge. It wasn't much, $13.60, but like I said I thought it was b.s.

Its for imported tires

You will pay it on Nitto's Toyo's Kumho's and the like but not American made tires

It was Obamas solution to make the US union tire companies competitive

Just tax the chit out of the foreign ones so they cost more than the union made tires

Hmm, well when I clicked on the "?" for the F.E.T. charge the description I put down was copied and pasted from 4 wheel parts website? Either way this will be a first. I probably want buy from them knowing they now add this.

You know, I deal with this stuff everyday, but I've never given it much thought. I didn't know if it was only imported tires that had f.e.t on them. I looked up some BFG's. Some have f.e.t and some don't. Not all Nittos have f.e.t on them either

Trust me I was pissed. Most of it applies to chinese and korean manufacturers.

I put my 35 inch Kuhmos on the day after this passed

Cost me about 25 bucks per tire extra
