P0470 and P0299
Hi
Been having trouble...2004 F350...6.0...automatic...99k miles...running Superchips economy tune (though since I have had this truck in July 2009 I have had it stock most of the time...)...I bought it used and as far as I can tell there's no cat on it...not sure if anything was done to the EGR or head studs or anything (previous owner was not 100% honest with me...)... Started with driving at 60 mph down the highway at a steady speed and then all of a sudden the truck would take off on me...no bumps causing my foot to change position on the throttle... Now in town...cruising at a constant speed of 20 mph...go to try to accelerate a little bit to get to 25 and it takes a stomp on the skinny pedal to get it moving...no gradual increase in speed. It has thrown the 470 code for quite some time...I clear it and sometimes it stays off for a long time...others not so much... The 299 is new this week Am I looking at a turbo cleaning or a new turbo? What about the backpressure...a result of a slowing declining turbo or more likely the sensor? As far as what I use my truck for...mostly in-town driving with occasional towing of my Jeep...would rather get it set up for getting super fuel mileage even if that means de-tuning it a bit...maybe have to ability to go from de-tuned for my in-town driving and then change it to something that provides more power for my wheeling trips... Any input (including an exploded diagram of the turbo or suggestions of replacement turbos) would be great... Thanks! Patrick |
