How many miles?

How many miles can you get on a good 6.0 before you start having problems? I know several guys with over 300k mi on their 7.3's without a lick of trouble.

How long can you expect the head gaskets to last on a 6.0?

Basically, I want a pickup that will run good, and last a long time. Is the 6.0 going to do that without headstuds and all that?

Decisions, Decisions. . . .

Thanks

Kirk

Do you plan on putting a tuner or any engine upgrades?

You want 300k it shouldnt be a problem. Keep up the maintenance and keep an eye on the EGR cooler. When it goes get rid of it and you will get your 300k. If you throw a tuner on it keep it mild, you know nothing extreme like a a race file. I have 130k on mine with a mild tune, TB exhaust, insight and EGR delete and its running like a top still. Keep the oil clean and your good to go.

A non performance mod good for the sixer is an oil bypass filter.

I will do a cold air intake and exhaust for sure. I would not mind putting an mild chip on it but I would not have it turned up much at all. Mainly just for the computer benefits and fuel mileage.

If I ever lost a head gasket then I would do head studs at that point.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Loneranger: No need to spend the $$ on a air intake the factory intake is good up to @500hp. You'll never need anything better. And its actually a very good filter. There wil be no gains from changing it out....Steve

No gains except you get more HP... more TQ... and more MPG.

But nothing else.

My truck is 127k right now on stock headgaskets. Maintenance and use QUALITY parts. Don't cheap out on this beast.
