possable deal on a 03

I have a neighbor with a 03 dually 4x4 crewcab and he has burnt a piston and did something to the injector on that cyl. The truck has 160K miles on it.

Now he is tired of putting money into this truck and offered it to me for 6K.

After spending half the day reading up on the 6.0 i am not sure about this deal.

All my fords have been 7.3 and never gave me a issue.

I do need a truck now, the timing is great as i have the 6K in hand. But not the 5K for the new motor.

Any thoughts on this kind of motor failure?

The truck is stock. no mods. no reprograms.

What are the odds i can replace the bad piston and injector and be good.

Just sayin, I know a guy with a pulled 6.0l. Has eveything, just needs head gaskets. He wants $1000.... I think it has over 100k miles. Forget exact number. In MN....
