EGT probe question

was reading another thread and thought of a stupid question. where is the correct place and method to mount an EGT probe? thanks.

I can tell you where I put mine. In my '06 F250 I drilled and tapped a hole for 1/8" NPT (thats pipe thread) right before the turn up of the manifold at the rear of the engine. That way you get an average of all four cylinders on that bank. I also have one in the down pipe leaving my turbo and it runs abount 100 degrees cooler. Not a good place if you are running any kind of tune. Tapping cast iron is not easy and will snap a tap in a hurry so don't buy a cheap tap or you will regret it. Hope this helps.
