Question Voltage Regulator 2005/6.0

I got a scangauge last month and like it a lot. One thing I noticed is the
voltage seems slow coming up sometimes. Is there a separate voltage
regulator on these engines or is it in the alternator? Maybe it is in the
PCM. On other vehicles I have owned the voltage comes up right away.
This one seems to take a few min sometimes. Also I have two new batt
last December .I would never have noticed the volts without the
scangauge.
Apr 2005 Mfg. 6.0 FX4,Crew cab.
Thanks for any information

I agree with blood. Voltage will be lower until the glow plugs turn off for good, which is usually alot longer than you'd think.
