tranny filter replacement and seals

I am going to change both the filters in my tranny, i went to dealer and bought them and had to specifically ask for the pan gasket, and the O-ring for the tolet paper filter... the parts counter guy said they never replace those... he said service guys never do, the gaskets are newer, harder plastic and dont need to be replaced.... i bought them both anyway, the o-ring was $5, the pan gasket was $30.... is this guy full of ##$%??? should i replace the pan gasket? im definatly doing the o-ring.... but i guess if the consensus is you dont need to replace, an mine looks good, i could take this on back for refund... thanks for advice as always...

Rob

The gaskets are reusable and I've never replaced mine and they have come off a several times for maintenance purposes.
