2003 F250 Superduty 6.0L Automatic Tranny overheating

Good day to everyone,
Could one of you "Pro's" help me out on my transmission on this trucks transmission overheating? I literally "just" bought it from a dealer on Monday in OK. I test drove it for about 15 minutes and it drove fine. The truck has 100,543 miles on it. 25 miles into the 86 mile ride home the transmission temp gauge showed hot. I stopped to check the fluid and it was fine...I continued driving and stopping to let it cool down and finally made it home. When I first stopped I called the guy who sold it to me and he said he'd fix it and came got it and it's in the shop now....No money thank goodness has changed hands yet.

Anyone have any ideas?

Could just be that the trans temp sensor failed. My '03 has done that. The trans temp gauges are crap in these things, if it was sitting on hot you'd smell the transmission already
