04 to 06 conversion

Hey guys i have a early 2004 6.0 powerstroke. The egr cooler recently went out on it and cracked the heads. I also have a mark on one of the pistons so i decided to put a new motor in it. I'd like to put a 2006 6.0 because i have heard they are more reliable. I'm able to find motors but I'm wondering what conversions i'll have to make and the differences between the two motors. Also will my 04 computer work with the 06? any help is appreciated, thanks guys

The 04-06 had some changes depending on build date. Most of the fixes were in tuning, updated parts and a more educated diesel tech base.

Depending the build date on your truck your ICP sensor could be under the turbo, and the 06 is moved to the passenger valve cover. Cant think of anything this more right now.
