Buying an 05 250.....question
I am about to purchase an 05 f250 and i have a couple questions. I am new to diesels so i just want to make sure i am informed. It has 84000 miles on it. I asked him what repairs have been done to the motor and he told me injector o-ring, erg oil cooler, and head gaskets replaced. These are the only problems he said he has had with it. Should any of these concern me? They were all repaired under warranty

You can get an OASIS report at the dealership that will tell you ALL the warranty work that was done - just to confirm what he said.
If the price is low enough, it may be an OK deal. If not, I might wonder about the cause of the head gasket issue (like a tuner). Many head gasket jobs are not done right (reused warped heads, improper torque sequences, etc). I would be somewhat nervous about it unless someone knowledgeable of the 6.0L checked it out well. |

Yeah, I think thats what i need to do. I will take it by a ford dealership and let them check it out and give me an oasis report on it.

I have been dealing with local diesel tech. The vehicle is still under warranty for a few more days. I am going to buy it and then take it to ford to let them take a good look at it while its under warranty. I was able to get an oasis report on it.... and it showed exactly what the guy told me he had replaced. All was back in january so its farely new repairs and that was the first problems he had with it.
Should I buy an extended warranty through for or go with the full egr delete? |

i would go with the extended warranty, i own the same year. some people get lucky with them, some dont. if the HG went again on you, say a year from now, your now looking in the neighborhood of 4k to get it fixed and studded
dont get me wrong either, doing an egr delete IMO is a good idea, thats the route i went due to it being problematic and linked to causing other damage. but i was also out of warranty and tired of replacing the SOS |
