Straight Pipe on 05 6.0. What would it do?

Have an 05' with 70,000 miles. All stock other then a k&n air filter. What are the pros and cons to to getting rid of the muffler and going with a sraight pipe? Also what would I have to do get the Turbo to sound louder then what it does? Would the straight pipe make the Turbo sound louder? Any advise is appreciated!

i put 4 in w no muffler on mine and a afe stg 2 intake. mine is also a 7.3. my buddy has a 03 6.0 and put 4 in no muffler and damn it sounds good. so no muffler and intake will wake it up

Yes it will make it louder and you will hear the turbo more. If you really want that 747 turbo sound you have to swap in an 03 turbo.

The 6.0 will "pop" real bad at high rpm, kinda like a straight piped gasser. Sounds like chit to me.

I ordered a muffler delete pipe with my exhaust, and after I installed the exhaust/delete pipe, I made 1 trip around the block and put the aftermarket muffler that came with the new exhaust on. Sounded about the same at idle, no poping and crackling at higher rpms.

I just installed a 4" turbo back on my 07, no muffler. I LOVE IT! Turbo sound is unreal. Sounds great under load.. Haven't heard any "popping". Actually wish it was a little louder when you romp on it. The turbo at idle is just awesome. There is very little difference between my buddy's 03 6.0 and mine, in my opinion...

No fuel mileage increase though..

I have an 06 with a 4" turbo back system. I originally was straight piped but after a year I decided to put the muffler on it that was in the kit. I still get comments on how good it sounds even though its alittle quieter.

Yeah, to me it wasn't the greatest sound in the world either. Some people like the sound and some do not.

Sounds like a 90's model Z71 straight piped. Not very impressive, just obnoxious.

I guess it's in the ear of the beholder. Mines been straight piped for over 2 years with a 03 turbo and I love it. I always have people coming up to me and asking me why it sounds like a 747 at take off.

An 03 sounds WAY different because of the turbo. Does it "pop and crackle" at WOT?

The few minutes mine was straight piped it sounded so bad it was embarrassing. I drove a straight piped 7.3 for years and loved the way it sounded. I can't handle that gasser "pop and crackle".
