Get an OASIS report from the dealer. You can do a little preventative maintenance by putting in head studs and deleting the EGR cooler or replacing it with the bulletproof model. You hear more complaints about them because there are more of them on the road.

The factory bolts have a reputation for stretching.

When I got my '06 (back in '08) I went from an F150 with a 4.6 to an F250 with a 6.0 and love it.
Like with any used vehicle purchase, the more informed you are about the vehicle, and how the particular vehicle was maintain (if that information is available) the more informed your buying process can be. Unfortunately you win some and loss some, I'm more then happy with mine.

I love my 6.0 - but this year alone I have sunk in over $10,000 into the engine. I no longer trust the truck. I cant sell it - owe too much to sell it, I need a HD hauler/tower for my ministry - and my credit isnt good enough to go and trade it in and replace it.
Kinda stuck. Alot of prayer over my truck at this point. If I had the engine work to do over again - I think I would have swapped in a 12v 5.9 Cummins instead. |
