Exhaust too loud
I may get flamed for this but here it goes. I recently bought a 2004 powerstroke f250 that the previous owner deleted the cat on. When I get on the throttle on this truck it is very very loud. I drive in the city sometimes and it draws way more attention than I would like. My question is should I go with one of those inline mufflers from MBRP or ARE or put the stock cat back on. I was leaning towards the muffler direction because I thought the cat might be too restrictive.

From what you are saying, sounds like the cat AND muffler were deleted. I would leave off the cat and install a less restrictive muffler. That should help.

wow how loud are we talking? and how fast are you driving in the city to make it that loud i mean most of the time trucks with exhausts are not even that loud like idling....

I just removed my MBRP 4" muffler and I'm not sure I like the loudness of a straight exhaust. Like you, I'm not sure I want to draw the attention even though it sounds awesome. If I were you, I would start by putting on an MBRP muffler and keep the cat off.

If you don't want to draw attention keep your foot out of the loud pedal. I can modulate my exhaust sound quite effectively with the loud pedal.

. Actually, I'm mostly concerned with towing. I don't want to listen to the drone of the exhaust while not in overdrive.
