A little too cheap?

A local lot has a 2004 f350 6.0 with 102,000 on the clock, auto, 4x4 ect, $17,450. WTF is up with that? Should be more like $22,500-$25,000, according to kbb, nada, edmunds. What all to look for on thewse 6.0's? The guy says all stock, but no kitty or muffler. So the guy has no idea about studs or egr delete.

Get the VIN and get an OASIS report on the truck to see what all it was in the shop for during it's lifetime. What model? XL, XLT, Lariat? What options? What kind of condition is the truck in? Major dents or scratches? Does it have a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch? Those 102k miles may have been hard towing miles. Have a mechanic check out the truck before you buy it. You can have a mechanic come out and inspect it for $200 or so. If the OASIS is clean and it checks out okay, it seems like a good deal. But if you still have reservations, and don't feel confident, pass on it.

I just recently bought an 04 F250 ext. cab xlt 4x4 FX4 with 92,000 miles in excellent condition with a reallynice headache rack, toolbox, and spray in bedliner for $15,900 at a local dealer here in Colorado. Is the one you are looking at a crew? Longbed? If it hasn't been tuned and is basically stock (except for the exhaust) it seems like a pretty good deal. Other guys on the forum know a lot more about them than me, so wait a bit and see what they have to say. Obviously prices vary depending on location.

It is an XLT crew cab short bed, no gooseneck in the bed. With the exception of a 4" scratch on the tailgate, the truck is really clean.

i wouldnt be leary cause I bought mine with 96K on it. XLT sport with leather, crew cab and everything looked good on it. Well it does have some scratches in the paint on the front doors but touched up. I am guessing the previouse owner was on gravel roads alot. Anyways I got mine for $16K well 18K if you add taxes

Not having a 6.0 currently, if it has a egr delete, is that something that is obvious or can't you tell. Also, without talking to the PO, there is no way to check for studs without tearing it apart, right?

You can see if it has studs by looking under the hood. If there is a bolt head then it doesnt have studs....if it is a stud with a nut on it then it has studs. You will see the valve cover bolts but inbetween those are the head bolts.

EGR is harder. If it has a full delete the easiest is to see if the EGR valve is gone. Some have the up-pipe with the scoop removed or plug the port with a freeze plug and those you wont be able to tell unless you actually remove the pipe

That isn't too cheap. I bought my 2005 CCSB F250 Lariat with 97k for $17,500 and the only thing wrong is the power sliding rear window motor went out and the leather seats needed a good cleaning. You can't refer to KBB or NADA on these trucks anymore, some are going for way more and some way less

The dealer gave me 15,500 for my 04 with 123k. Not sure if they knew that the tranny was toast. My truck was pretty clean with the exception of a wear mark on the driver seat and a broken glass on the passenger towing mirror.
