I have never driven a truck with a exhaust brake so I cant give my personal opinion on them. But I have two friends that both have a pacbrake exhaust brake on their 6.0. They both have nothing bad at all to say about them and they say they will never tow with a truck without one. They both do lots of towing over the coquihalla in the summer and say the exhaust brake works great at holding the truck back and even slowing it down. One of my friends leaves his on all the time and his truck is a 2004 with 280,000 kms. He just did his first set of rear brakes so I would say it is safe to say the exhaust brake also really helps extend the life of your brakes.

The only down side is the exhaust brakes are fairly costly and if you dont tow much it is hard to spend that much money on one....atleast for me it would be.

I believe innovative diesel can make a tow tune with the exhaust brake in it.

True. I was told it wont be very noticeable unless you are towing a good amount of weight. I was interested in having it put on a tow tune but only towing around 4-7k daily its not needed. I haven't talked to anyone who has this feature in a tune.
