Edge Insight Monitor

For awhile now, I've been wanting some more guages to monitor the performance of my '04. She is all stock....well except for the coolant filter....and we do a lot of hauling a 5er that weighs close to 16k.

I've seen posts where people have added guages to the truck but I'm not real keen about the wiring, etc, etc. And then I ran into some threads or references to the Edge Insight Monitoring system.

Based upon what I can tell, this system connects to the OBDII connections on the truck. But what I cannot tell is what kind of additional monitoring will it provide me. For example, trans temp (actual), coolant temp (actual) boost pressure, etc.

Looking for feedback from those of you who have one of these monitors as to what I could expect if I buy it. Thanks!

you can monitor so much with the insight. I monitor coolant temp, trans temp, EGT's, boost, Oil temp and volts all at the same time. There are alot of others you can monitor and you can clear DTC's with it. Its easy to install. You just need to add the egt probe in the manifold pre turbo to monitor egts.

I love it,!!! Plus there are many options for mounting the unit and you can change the background color and dim it at night if you need.

I also have one, and I love it! I probably spent the whole part of an hour installing everything, including the EGT probe. Couldn't ask for more!

Excellent. Does it get power from the OBDII connection or does it need external power?

Also, and just out of curiosity, with it offering so much info obtained from the onboard computer, why do so many people go with guages that they have to mount on the pillar, run wires, etc, etc? Seems to me that after all the time and cost, this Edge would be cheaper and better in the long haul.

It gets all it's power from the OBDII port.

And to answer that question, many people just don't like digital gauges, it's really just a matter of preference. But I'm with you, I don't understand why. I got my Edge Insight for $175 w/ the EGT probe, and it was super easy to install. I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want one!
