PSD or CTD?

Hey everyone, my names Steven. I've been prowling this forum for quite awhile now. I really like it. I've come to really fall in love with the 6.0 PSD. My real dad who lives in Texas has one. I never really liked them because of all the bad stores I had heard about them, but then I drove his and fell in love. But the real reason I'm posting here is to ask all of you about what my step dad should buy. It's a toss up between a 5.9 CTD or a 6.0 PSD. I know I'm posting on a Ford forum, but I trust all of you will be truthful. I love the Cummins, but i hate the wrapping it comes in. I love the 6.0 as well and Ford makes a beautiful truck inside and out but I'm not sure what years to stay away from. We will be hauling horses with a gooseneck. I'm scared that the GOOD 6.0's are few and far between? Any help would be great. Thanks!

The Cummins is a good motor, Duramax is a good motor but they all have there problems just the 6.0 seems to be talked about more, why maybe because there are more of them one the road they out number the other 3 or more to 1 that said they have to be well maintained, oil change on time max 5000 miles, fuel filters changed 10,000 miles use only Ford filter and add a few things that Ford should have added to make these motors last longer before the oil cooler goes out from the casting sand that is left behind. I would look for a 06 or 07 with low miles get an Ozasis report on it to see what repairs if any that has been made on it.
Mine is an 06 that had 17,000 miles on it, a sales manager at a Ford dealer had it, got an Ozasis and the turbo had been replaced on it. I do not use it as a town driver, when it's running it is pulling my 5er a 14,000 lb Alpenlite my milage is around 8 1/2 to 10, and i use my 97 PSD for a town driver. My 06 will out pull my 97 2 to 1 and i have over $3000 in mods on my 97. This is just the way i see it, someone may see it different. The best to you, and welcome aboard.

Thanks brother. I appreciate it. The truck we are currently looking at is a 2005 F-350 DRW Crew Cab Lariat with 37k on it. The price is $27,000. I figured this would be a steal for my step dad. I think this will be the one we get. We're going to look some more though. Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.
