I took my winter wheels off a couple weeks ago and put the original 20" stock aluminum ones back on my '06 F250. These had been sitting in my garage for the past 6 months. When I put the last one on, I saw what I thought was a scratch. Closer inspection revealed the rim was cracked at the bead seat at two locations. I couldn't believe it. Ford dealer offered nothing since truck is past 36k warranty. Service manager agreed the rim was not overloaded or otherwise damaged.
This is just another of a list of failed components on this truck. 48k miles and nearly $10k in post warranty repairs. |

This is not the first time I have heard of this happening to stock aluminum rims. I check mine for cracks everytime I wash my truck.
