ABS Light 2006 F350

My ABS light just started to come on now and then. Any ideas on where I should start? I dont see any codes via my SCT3.

Fluid is good, I dont see any signs of somthing wrong.

Nope! This came out of the blue. Its sometimes on and sometimes not. The only change was new tires about 500 miles ago.

Also, can I read ABS codes with my SCT? Nothing is stored.

Mine did the same thing...SCT will not read ABS codes. You need an ABS code reader for that. I replaced the sensor on the rear differential (about a 10 min or less fix) and problem solved. The dealership I bought the sensor from said they are known to go out once in a while.

I just had a ball joint done last week and the ABS sensor wire got cut during the install. The mechanic I talked to before I had time to take it back in said it could be a bad connection. If it isn't that it is probably the sensor.

One more post and then I am going to quit worring about a stupid ABS light.... Would you start by having someone read the ABS code or do you think it is safe to say that it is the rear ABS speed sensor? Also, I am finding these things for like $15-20.

Thanks! Time for a beer and some sleep.

My abs light just came on too. As far as I know if your speedo is working your abs speed sensor on the rear diff is good. But I dont know if that is true or not. Im stumped as well. It takes a specific code reader to communicate with the abs system. Oreily didnt have it and les schwabs wanted 90 bucks an hour for diagnosis.

Well I had mine read for free at PEP BOYS. Then I bought my part from ford for 50 bucks. Worked like a champ and no lights on the dash now.

#oregonstroker

What you heard is not true. My speedometer was working just fine. I just had the ABS light on on my dash. Galaxie...These are way more common to go out according to the dealership I bought mine from more so than the ones at the wheels.

Armyguy #1 thank you for your service. #2 I am always nervous having pepboys scan anything. Think I should put the stock tune on before I have them touch it?
