EGR Question

I have always had the 7.3 motors in my truck and just now am deciding on getting a 6.0, but i keep hearing about all the problems they have. Yet i have not met anyone that has actually had a problem. Is there a certain amount of miles before these motors grenade ? I have seen truck with over a 100,000miles and nothing wrong. Was it trucks that were made on a friday afternoon when the assembly line was ready for the weekend or a monday morning when they were hung over from a weekend of partying ? I guess the big question is, were all the trucks jacked up or just certain ones ?

I have 94k on mine now and have run a banks 6-gun since 35k (until recently)The only problem I've had with mine was I lost the EGR cooler at around 40-45k. Once that was removed I have had zero problems.

Not long after I bought my truck, like 45 miles later, the oil cooler took a crap. Dealership fixed it without charging me. My egr valve got screwed up a little while back, but got that fixed... welded the thing closed. I know egr delete kits are a great idea, but here in Colorado, the emission testers LOOK FOR THE COOLER. If you get the 6.0 look into the bulletproof egr cooler. I think it is sort of a hit or miss on these motors. Some people have major problems rather quickly and some don't. I have almost 95,000 miles and no MAJOR issues. I got an oasis report on my truck and all that had to be done to it in the past wast new turbo hoses, computer update, and egr valve cleaned. The 6.0l can be a real mean motor, especially if all the "precautionary" things are addressed. Just my

I know about the inspectors, but here in Pueblo there are no inspections.
I think i might take a run over to elite diesel an see what they charge for the egr delete.

I went there about a month ago and they have a great delete kit! I think it runs around $275.

get rid of that junk and get an SCT, so your tranny makes it past 95k.
