What is this thing? Its making a buzzing noise constantly and I have no idea what it is...

Yeah, when I turn the key for the glow plugs to heat up you can hear it buzzing and it doesnt shut off...

That is the vacuum pump. It is on the passenger side, right in front of the hood hinges. Mine makes a lot of noise while it is on as well. It should eventually turn off. If it doesn't, it generally means that you have a vacuum leak.

Does your heater work correctly, or does it only have defrost?

Its working but its taking a while for it to change settings when you turn the dial so there must be a air leak somewhere.
