6.0 in general? problems? good or bad?

I'm looking at a 6.0 its a 2004 with 112k miles 6ft bed ext cab 4x4 offroad pakg. I'm a 7.3 guy I don't know much about these 6.0 could someone chime in and help me please it will be greatly appreciated

6.0's can be problematic and pricey to repair. best advice would be to get an OASIS report and see what has been done to it while under warranty.

+1 to the oasis report, there hit or miss, my 6.0 has actually had less problems then my buddies 7.3

Sorry, couldnt' resist. I LOVED that show, too bad they cancelled it.

Anyhow, a few of the guys on the site will chime in about getting you an Oasis ran.

I have an '06 and I must say so far so good. For every horror story you hear on the 6.0 I'm sure there are hundreds who operate trouble free. Take good care of the maintenance and it should repay you in kind.

Then DO
EGR Delete 260.00 sinister delete e-bay
Oil cooler rebuild 200.00
Manifold cleaned out at a machine shop 38.00 bucks
New stc fitting for the Hpop while it's all apart 35.00
New manifold gasket kit with turbo gaskets included 135.00
oil change and filter 100.00
flush coolant and put new ford gold in 70.00
New fuel filters 35.00
New air filter 55.00
Probably new turbo hot side hose if not in good shape 55.00
Private party Labor about 700.00 about 1800 at ford or more
and fix or replace any ify stuff while it's all tore down
AND YOU SHOULD HAVE A VERY GOOD MACHINE
Worry free for the most part after all that.
Mines being done right now has 53,000 miles perfect OASIS report and I'm doing all this for preventive maint. so I don't have one of the great 6.0 issues bite me on the butt while towing my camper this summer.

That gives you an idea if I was buying one outta warrenty I'd do all that and have a great truck,mine still has 5 mo war left but it's been charmed so I'm not taking anymore chances.

wow thats alot of work why am I seeing so many 6.0 owners with oil cooler problems and egr problems is there an upgrade for these parts? Im going to say this is the first im going to invest in
