Synthetic Oil question
Some of you guys might have seen a post I had earlier in the week about blowing my 03 turbo. I've got a replacement, new drain tube and I'm going to be ordering the new oil supply line. I currently run Shell Rotella-T 15w40 and I have been thinking of changing to synthetic oil. A couple friends of mine are running amsoil and say that is what I should run. What would you guys suggest and can you run more miles between oil changes? I always change the oil at 5k intervals and don't know if it would be worth changing to systhetic because I would still probably change it every 5k.

I live in Montana and I now run shell rotella 5-40 syn. I change mine every 5000 mi and I feel that the improvement in cold starts and better lubrication make it worth the extra expense. Watch at W-Mart and your favorite parts store for sales. Some people like valvoline premium blue or amsoil. We all have our own opinions but I do believe that the 6.0's run quieter and smoother on synthetic 5-40 just like the best programmers for the 6.0 is a SCT.

At about 5k miles or so the oil starts to break down from the HPOP and doesn't lube or protect as well because the oil molecules actually shear apart
