BLACKSTONE LAB RESULTS

I too just received a oil lab report from Blackstone after 88,000 miles ...seems like both my Copper and Magnesium were high...what do think could be the cause. Bismic...does this report look okay from your experience of using Blackstone?

Well mine's a 7.3, my magnesium was higher than yours, they did not comment on that at all. Your iron is higher than mine for sure, copper being high with magnesium is sometimes bearings getting eaten up, but as they indicate don't worry at ton. You need to do a couple to see a baseline and a trend. Just follow what they say in the comments, they are typically spot on. I love oil analysis!

Magnesium is typically an additive - used in the detergent package. I have not seen any Mobil 1 analytical results for awhile so I do not recall specifically what their additive package profile looks like.

The copper seems a little high to me, but I would not worry too much at this point. I have been told that some companies even add a little copper, but I have not verified that statement.

My iron has always been in the 30-40 range, no matter what oil, so yours looks fine.
